Latitude is a spectacular five-bedroom villa (plus a small children’s bedroom), at the Karang Kembar Estate on the southernmost tip of Bali. Resting upon a cliff top, 90 metres above the pristine Kutuh Beach and the rolling surf of southern Bali, this stunning hideaway imparts a grand sense of scale. It is built on terraced lawns and comprises a series of pavilions, presenting bedrooms with indoor and outdoor bathrooms and four Jacuzzi tubs, a splendid living and dining pavilion, a cutting-edge open-plan kitchen, a home theatre and games room, open terraces, ponds, a wedding lawn, and a huge infinity-edge swimming pool.
The villa is ideal for families and groups of friends, offering plenty of privacy, while its wide lawns and, terraces are perfect for weddings, parties and celebrations against an awesome ocean backdrop. The rhythmic sound of the ocean waves is prevalent from everywhere on the property, lulling guests to sleep at night.
The contemporary design of the villa takes advantage of the topography, using the surroundings and magnificent vista as a support for the architectural concept. Veering away from tradition, the flat roofs, glass walls and multiple use of decorative stonework oozes a profound sense of calm, privacy and seclusion. The villa has three entrances, and is equipped with WiFi Internet access, personal safe deposit boxes, and TVs and DVD players in every bedroom. Guests at Latitude are granted use of the exclusive Karang Kembar Beach Club.
Living & Dining
A huge living room, pool room, integrated kitchen, and a choice of indoor and outdoor dining spaces are incorporated within the central pavilion, which opens onto the timber pool deck. Here, glass walls on two sides extend the full height of the two-storey building, with folding glass doors that can be fully opened to the sea views and coastal breezes.
The living area is furnished with a rustic coffee table and large royal blue sofas and chairs upon a cream Jogya stone floor, reflecting the colours of the ocean. The adjacent indoor dining area is furnished with a table for eight, conveniently positioned next to the open plan kitchen.
The outdoor barbeque area is situated within a breezy courtyard, capped with a partially-open sail roof and a living pergola dripping in passion fruit vines. It is equipped with a built-in gas barbeque, a sink unit, and a large picnic table for twelve with bench seats. A guest washroom is situated behind the living area.
Pool Room
A spiral staircase, fashioned in wood and steel, leads from the living room in the central pavilion up to a mezzanine floor, which is home to a pool table. With a fantastic view of the ocean, a polished wood floor and timber lined walls, this elevated room offers a unique environment for a game of pool.
Kitchen
The beautiful feature kitchen is situated in the central pavilion next to the living and dining area. It is distinguished by a central circular island fitted with an extractor hood, a four-burner gas hob, oven and cupboards on one side, and an unpolished granite bar on the other, flanked by three high stools. A huge mirror covers the wall behind the counter, so that anyone sitting on the stools and facing inland can still enjoy the dramatic ocean view reflected in the looking glass.
Swimming Pool and Garden
The expansive garden is characterised by a series of wide terraced lawns, maximising the view from every level. The central feature is the dazzling 36 x 6 metre, infinity-edge swimming pool, incorporating a shallow children’s pool, lined with cobalt blue mosaic tiles, and bordered on three sides by ironwood and stone decks. On a higher level is a velvety wedding lawn with an ornamental pond. A service area with laundry and staff quarters is tucked away here, out of sight. Parking is available at the entrance to the villa.
Master Suite
The multi-level master suite is housed within a self-contained unit comprising the master bedroom, an indoor/outdoor ensuite bathroom, a dressing area, a twin-bedded children’s bedroom, a private garden, and a broad sundeck. The air-conditioned master bedroom is characterised by a polished hardwood floor and glass walls offering extraordinary, unbroken views of the Indian Ocean and the white sand beach.
The room is furnished with a king-size bed and equipped with a 32” flat screen satellite-channel TV and DVD player. Immediately in front of the bedroom is an elevated timber deck bordered by low-level glass walls ensuring that nothing blocks the breathtaking view.
A separate and very spacious walk-in dressing room is positioned behind the bedroom, fitted with black built-in wardrobes. Next door is the small air-conditioned children’s bedroom, simply furnished with twin beds and a baby cot. The ensuite bathroom is presents an indoor area with an overhead monsoon shower and a handheld shower, a toilet and twin marble washbasins on a black polished granite vanity unit. The outdoor bathing area features a timber deck and a sunken circular hot Jacuzzi tub next to a stacked slate wall together with a fence for privacy. There is also a private garden area with a hidden sunbathing deck.
Guest Villas
Three fully air-conditioned guest villas rest to one side of the main pavilion, at the far end of the pool. Each identical bedroom is furnished with a king bed (one of which converts to twins), and equipped with a TV and DVD player, and each features glass walls and doors that open to a stone pool deck and the glorious vista. Each has an integrated dressing area behind the bed and sliding dark glass doors to an indoor bathroom with twin marble washbasins, a shower cubicle and a toilet cubicle. Another door in each bathroom slides open to a circular open-air bathing area with a hot Jacuzzi tub and a broad, open chimney that extends to the upper lawn.
Home Theatre and Wine Room
Behind the three guest villas is a limestone random rock walled passageway with a flight of stone steps that leads down to a large home theatre TV and games room on the lower level, with a partially glass roof underneath the shallow section of the swimming pool. The air-conditioned room is furnished with 4 sofa’s seating 2 people and set up in rows of 2 (cinema style) for a complete Home Theatre experience. There are also 2 pinball machines.
Adjacent to this is a wine room with a sink unit. In front of the home theatre is a huge open air Jogya stone deck that can be used for parties and receptions. Steps from here lead back up to the swimming pool.
Guest House
A private one-bedroom guesthouse is positioned on the top level near the wedding lawn, and accessed via steps over an ornamental pond. The air-conditioned bedroom is furnished with a king bed that converts to twins.
There is a small dressing area and an indoor bathroom with twin marble washbasins and a toilet and shower in separate cubicles. This leads into an outdoor bathroom with a monsoon shower open to the sky, where guest’s privacy is protected by stacked slate walls. At the front of the guest house is a timber deck and more fabulous views.
The Beach Club
Latitude Guests have free access to the Karang Kembar Beach Club which is right on the beach and only a few steps away from the sea. The Club has a well kept lush garden. The sea breeze and sound of the waves makes it a perfect place for relaxation.

Services
Latitude is supported by a carefully- selected team of highly trained, friendly staff who will do their best to ensure that their guests experience a truly enjoyable stay in Bali. The team is headed by a villa manager who will oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and is available to assist guests during their stay. The team also includes a chef, butlers, housekeepers, a gardener/pool attendant and security guards.
The chef is superbly competent in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and the staff is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. The housekeepers fulfill all of the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Baby-sitting, a car and driver, and massage services are available on request at an extra charge.
Location
Latitude is located on the Karang Kembar Estate on the southernmost tip of Bali in a region known as the Bukit Peninsula – a limestone tableland boasting some of Bali’s most glamorous villas, private estates and internationally-branded boutique hotels.
From the villa’s lofty lookout, if the sea is calm, guests can observe the coral reef and the seaweed farms beneath the surface. They may even spot turtles, dugongs, manta rays and migrating pilot whales, as well as the long tailed grey macaque monkeys that play in the neighbouring areas where the landscape is dotted with cactus, kapok trees and gorgeous scarlet flamboyants.
A tropical, equatorial climate means year-round balmy temperatures, this region is much drier than the rest of the island, yet cooler due to the offshore trade winds. The barreling surf breaks here are among the best in the world, and guests at Latitude can enjoy the amenities of the Karang Kembar Beach Club.
A private helipad offers the option of quick transfers to and from the International Airport, 18 kilometres away. There are two world-class golf courses on the Bukit, and for adventurous guests there is a paintball facility as well as a paragliding centre on the cliff, 80 metres above the nearby Timbis Beach. The remainder of the island offers a rich mosaic of cultures, tastes, sights and sounds, shopping facilities and restaurants together with a wide array of outdoor activities.
